Presidents' Day

Having just celebrated Presidents' Day, our small conversation groups discussed our general knowledge of former U.S. Presidents and their accomplishments. Participants enjoyed comparing our current President's policies with those of his predecessors such as Franklin Delano Roosevelt.

Our ESL members shared their thoughts on topics ranging from environmental issues and gun control to respect for teachers and politeness of public officials. We will compose a letter to President Barak Obama reflecting our groups' ideas and mail it to him next week.

Next week's topic: Learning Languages

  1. I really love attending ESL session, as it let me feel that i become active after my newly presence in US as am still unemployed, such session gives me the confidence that i can communicate with community easily.

In the last session, we were collecting the main topics to be included in a letter to our president Barack Obama.

The main topic for me to be included in the letter, to increase his environmental concerns about how to shift the sources of energy into the clean resources using the solar energy and the natural gas in order to get ride of the global warming which leads to the cause of many hurricanes and floods in our earth.I know that china is using natural resources in very beneficial manner but i would think if US is more concerned with the environment, this would push the other countries to do the same. In order to protect our presence on the earth in a clean and quiet climate, and to let the earth enjoy such presence as well.

I hope you all enjoy a wonderful days.

  2. Thank you, librarians and volunteers!

We had a great time to look into the former and present US presidents. The topics always attract our attention and interest. I am so pleased to join this class with having coffee & snacks and meeting foreign friends. Hope to see you next week.
