Valentine's Day ESL Session

The first session of our "Spring Semester" was a lot of fun! Our conversation groups were filled with stories of how we met our significant others and how this holiday is celebrated around the world. It was great to see some of our former participants and welcome some new ones. We even spent a few minutes reading messages from candy hearts and trying to understand idioms such as "puppy love" and what exactly is a "blind date." Join us next Wednesday, February 20 as we discuss U.S. Presidents.

  1. It was fun to learn about the traditions in other countries! I found out that in Korea they also celebrate "White Day" on March 14th one month after Valentine's Day. Here is a link to Wikipedia about White Day http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_Day

  2. Hi this is Salma, it was really fun and I enjoyed such meeting very much. I have known that nations have the same customs as in Egypt we have a habit like Baby showers and Bridal showers which occur here in USA for the social support among the families and the friends.

In Egypt, We have a similar occasion like the Valentine's Day, in Egypt it is known as "Love Feast" on 4th of November.
